1. This is How a Heart Breaks
This is a very upbeat song, and you are able to tell that in this CD, Thomas wante to go for a different sound to his music. This song is very pop-oriented.
2. Lonely No More
This is another very pop-oriente song, this more than the track above. The beat to this song reminds me of something Justin Timberlake would create. It's not a bad thing though, it suits Rob's voice and it is a good, upbeat song.
3. Ever The Same
This song has a very nice beat and has some good lyrics. What keeps me coming back to Rob Thomas and Matchbox Twenty is their lyrics. Their all so good. This song doesn't disappoint.
4. I am an Illusion
By far the best track on this CD. It is one of my favorite songs by him. Again, it has a very poppish feel to it. But, this song sounds very mysterious and the ending is incredible. It has a long solo at the end and it just all sounds really great together.
5. When the Heartache Ends
This song brings out the vocals in Rob Thomas. It is mostly acoustic. It really strays away from the pop feel Thomas tries to put into the album.
6. Something to Be
This song is the title of the album. I do not care for it, it brings a semi-pop feel to the table.
7. All that I Am
This song sounds like it would come from a movie. Maybe it is, who knows? But, this song has an interesting feel to it, not sure what to think about it yet.
8. Problem Girl
This song sounds like a vintage Matchbox Twenty song. It lacks something but I'm not sure what. I like to listen to this song because it tells a story.
9. Fallin' to Pieces
I honestly couldn't explain this song to you. It has a different sound. This album shows a lot of different sides to Rob Thomas.
10. My, My, My
This is a great song. It is probably the slowest song on the CD. But once again, the lyrics are incredible.
11. Streetcorner Symphony
Very good song, not sure why it wasn't a hit. The guitar in this song is done by John Mayer. This song makes me feel good inside.
12. Now Comes the Night
Along with My, My, My it is a slow song. Once again, there is something about his slow songs where it really brings out the geniousness of the lyrics.
Overall Rating:
73/100
This song has some good songs to it. Rob Thomas was successful on his own and he proved it with this CD. The lyrics are all really good. But there are some songs that could have been done without so much of the pop feel to it.
